Area high school boys varsity basketball coverage

Roscoe and Highland suffered losses in area boys high school basketball action Tuesday. Roscoe lost to Rotan, 50-42, in its game as the Plowboys fell to 1-6 in District 9-A, Division I, while Highland fell to Trent 46-45 in the teams’ District 11-A, Division II contest.
Ron Covington scored 23 points for Highland, but no other player was able to reach double figures as the Hornets fell to 5-19 overall and 2-7 in district.
Ethan Wilson finished with nine points while Shel-by Howard had seven, Shel-don Hall four and Kevin Box two. Highland led 26-24 at halftime and 37-35 at the end of three periods.
Jesus Leanos scored 22 points for Roscoe, who had beaten Rotan in the teams’ previous meeting, and Kees-ton Ford had 13. Matthew Cuellar had three points and Brant Burnett and Dil-lon Freeman two apiece for the Plowboys.
