Roscoe will be favored to win its District 4-2A opener today, but faces a 5-0 Roby team that will come into Plowboy Field trying to alter the balance of power in the district by beating their nearby rivals. For Roscoe (3-2), which has gone three rounds into the playoffs for coach Jake Freeman until being eliminated the past two years, it will be a chance for the Plowboys to put the Lions back in their place and restore a sense or order.
Roscoe won 52-8 last year when Roby was in the midst of a two-year, 0-20 streak. But the Lions this year started with wins over Bronte, Ranger, Baird, Rocksprings and Springlake-Earth.
Meanwhile, Roscoe has defeated Haskell (44-14), Early (20-13) and Menard (32-14) and lost to Albany (12-52) and Anson (40-43) this year. After today’s contest, the Plowboys are home again next week vs. Plains before ending the season against Seagraves, Tahoka and Hamlin.
