Plowgirls defeated in opener

The Roscoe girls basket-ball team lost at Winters, 52-37, in its season opener on Tuesday.
Sara Kingston and Caro-lina Perez had seven points to pace Roscoe while Mirian Solis had six, Faith Boren five, Lynnsi Moses four, Jacinda Morales three, Natalie Anthony and Torrey Willman two and Stina Tomlin one. Roscoe’s JV girls won 26-16 as Saman-tha Ortega had 10, Jese Pena eight, Olivia Saddler six and Selena Perez two.
Football playoffs set
Three football playoff games will be played in Nolan County on Friday. New Deal plays Seymour at 7:30 p.m. at Sweetwater and Blackwell has a six-man doubleheader — Sterling City vs. Panther Creek at 5:30 p.m. and Paint Rock vs. Loraine at 8 p.m.
Baseball clinic starts
here on Saturday
The Farm League field at Newman Park hosts a base-ball clinic starting Saturday for boys and girls ages 7-12.
The free clinic will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will run through the fall and winter months. It will focus on fielding, batting and running bases. Donations are appreciated and will go towards the local Go-Kart Track for the 2012 season. Call Kelly Andrus for more information at 933-0314.
