Positive changes being made to Relay For Life

October 7, 2013

This coming Saturday, Oct. 12, the 2013 Relay for Life will be held at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex.
At the annual event, a luminaria ceremony is held, which honors those who have battled cancer. This year's ceremony will see some changes, as a Powerpoint presentation will be used to honor these individuals.
Instead of reading the names aloud, the presentation will allow family members to honor their loved one by submitting a photo. All photos must be submitted by this Wednesday, October 9 to cindy-hamlin@hotmail.com.
The luminaria ceremony will be held that night at 9:30 p.m. Luminarias can be purchased during the Relay for Life event.
Throughout the day, several events are lined up. The Car and Bike Show will take place, rain or shine (another venue has been established in the instance of rain), along with the Relay Fun Day, games, activities and food booths.
At 5 p.m. on Saturday, a Survivors' Meal will be held. The meal, donated by Skeet's Texas Grill, will be chicken tenders, green beans, mashed potatoes, roll and a dessert.
All survivors will eat for free, while tickets will be sold for $5 per meal. To register survivors or purchase tickets for the meal, contact Cindy Hamlin at 725-7615.
