Power line causes fire

A fire in the southwestern portion of Sweetwater on Sunday, January 22, 2012 burned around 100 acres.

Approximately 100 acres of land were burned on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, in the southwestern portion of Sweetwater, started by electrical lines shaken by the wind shortly after noon, according to Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden. Wind gusts were up to 55 mph with humidity in the teens.
Those that assisted in extinguishing the blaze were Lake Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Department with one truck, Nolan Volunteer Fire Department with one truck, Maryneal Volunteer Fire Department with two trucks, Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department with three trucks and Sweetwater Fire Department with three brush trucks, one engine and the ladder truck.
