Pump testing at the city pool

May 30, 2013

The Sweetwater Fire Department has been testing their pumpers at the city pool.
"We are required to test the pumpers at various times throughout the year to make sure the trucks pump what they are supposed to," said Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden.
"There are many different things that are required to be tested at the department. This is one that requires a lot of resources and water. We have to pump the truck at max capacity for 20 minutes to make sure the truck can handle the load. It is designed to test not only the pump, but the motor, the cooling capacity of the radiator, and all the running gear.  This is not an easy test for the trucks."
