Ralph H. Carter, 81, of Loraine, Texas passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Snyder Oakes Nursing Home in Snyder, Texas after a brief illness of pneumonia.
Mr. Carter had previously resided at Nolan Nursing and Rehab in Sweetwater. He had been in ill health for a number of years. He was born on July 19, 1930, to Otha Carter and Bonnie (Jefferies) at McFall, Mo. His family had moved to Denver, Colo. where Ralph graduated from Denver High School. He was in the U.S. Air Force for three years. He was married to Pat (Burt) and they resided in Loraine, Texas. Ralph had three sons by a previous marriage to Donna (Logan) of Sweetwater, Texas, Guy Jeffrey, Bryan and Brad.
Ralph was a Methodist years before he was a Baptist, being a Deacon of their church for many years. Ralph was a meat market manager. He had worked for Lawrence Brothers for over 30 years, managing at the Piggly Wiggly stores around the area. He and his family had lived in the Corpus Christi, Marble Falls, Sweetwater and Abilene areas throughout the years.
His parents and son, Bryan preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife, Pat of Loraine; sons, Guy Jeffrey of Austin and Brad and wife Michelle of St. Cloud , Fla.; daughter, Connie Harshaw of Roby; sons, Donald D. Burt, Jr. and wife Lisa of Electra, Texas, Russell Burt and wife Kathlyn of Odessa; granddaughters, April and Roger CastaĂ±eda of Austin and Jennifer and Rob Mead of Marble Falls, Samantha Harshaw, Dakota Burt, Cheyenne Burt, Kayla Schroeder and husband Joe of Wichita Falls, Kelsey Clark of Electra; grandsons, Levi Hester of Big Spring, Jacob Hester of Beaumont, Justin Burt and Logan Burt; and five great-grandchildren, Elena, Corey and Isabelle (Izzy) CastaĂ±eda, Becca Mead and Kynleigh Rynea Schroeder.
Mr. Carterâ€™s body will be cremated after research donations. No services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Loraine Fire Department and Loraine Senior Citizens.
