Randel Lynn Jones

Randel Lynn Jones passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Randel was born March 5, 1950. He grew up in the Claytonville community and graduated from Roby High School in 1968. He received a Masters Degree in Agriculture and Horticulture from Sam Houston State. Randel was an ag teacher, director of produce farming for Texas Department of Corrections and an environmental engineer for oil and gas pipelines. He lived in the Philippines the past four years with the love of his life, Maggie. Randel and Maggie returned to Texas in November 2013.
Randel is survived by his wife, Maggie and step son, Leonard, along with daughters Brenna and Bailey of Huntsville, Fawne Scott and her husband Jerry of Vidor, son Josh Brown and his wife Amanda, and daughter-in-law Rebecca Strother of Vidor. Randel is also survived by his grandchildren, Jonathan, Kalab, Jennie, Morgan, Dylan, Lilly, Laynee and Lyndee; by his brothers, Calvin and his wife Ginger of Sweetwater, Carlos and his wife Belinda of Abilene; sisters Vonda and her husband Mike Gilliame of Marco Island, Florida, LaRue Stevens of Naples, Florida; and sister-in-law, Mickey Bryant of Dubach, Louisiana; as well as bunches of nieces and a few nephews.
Randel is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Erna Lee Jones; brother, Dwayne Bryant; and niece, Magen Jones.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Gill Cherry officiating. At his request he will be cremated. A viewing and visitation will be after the services at McCoy Funeral Home, 401 E. Third Street in Sweetwater.
