Located at 2301 Lamar, Rattlers is your one stop pool hall, saloon and game room. Owner/operator Steven Sellers of Amarillo opened Rattlers in Sweetwater on Jan. 26, 2013. Sellers moved to Sweetwater in February 2012 and originally planned to set up shop in the old Blockbuster building. Instead, Goodwill took over the Broadway location and Sellers had the old Holiday Bowl building remodeled. "It was the right thing to do, for Goodwill and for me," Sellers said of the move.
When asked about the name of his business, Sellers said "My little girl, Maggie, came up with the name. She liked the rattlesnakes so much when we moved here."
The pool hall is equipped with several pool tables, dart boards, a game room, eight television sets and four projectors, as well as a stage and dance floor. Also located inside is a full bar offering beer, wine and frozen concoctions. "We're working on a kitchen/grill to come in the future," said Sellers.
Pool tournaments are held every Monday night. Wednesday nights are Karaoke nights, and a live DJ spins on Thursday and Friday. "I give away $100 every Thursday night as well," Sellers said. "All you have to do is show up and stick around for the drawing."
Live Texas Country bands are featured every Saturday night. Bands/artists that have made appearances at Rattlers include Creed Fisher, Chris Brazeal (a Top 30 Country Artist), Southern Circus, Whiskey Kicks, Tyler Moses, Grupo Vida, Garcia Brothers and Conjunto Extremo. Regularly featured DJs are DJ Santos Alvarez and DJ Little J (a Roscoe Plowboy).
"Once football season starts up we show all the NFL games on the projector screens," Sellers said.
Hours of operation are Sunday through Friday from noon to midnight and Saturday from noon to 1 a.m.
