Rattlesnake Round-Up events announced

Clint Parks, Sweetwater Jaycee President and Chairman of the 56th Annual World’s Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up, has released the schedule and prices for the upcoming Round-Up on March 7-9, 2014. The Jaycees have released that they will be paying $15 per pound for live Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes. The Jaycees have collected more than 300,000 pounds of Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes since the start of the Round-Up in 1959. Parks stated “this price will be paid all three days with no weight limit on number of pounds brought in.” The Rattlesnake Round-Up is held annually on the second weekend in March at the Nolan County Coliseum Complex in Newman Park.

Thursday, March 6, 2014:
The Rattlesnake Review Parade will be at 4:30 p.m. The Miss Snake Charmer Scholarship Pageant will be at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium, located at 400 Locust. Ticket prices for adults (13 and up) are $10 per person. Student tickets (6-12) are $5 per person.
Friday, March 7, 2014:
The Rattlesnake Round-Up will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, March 8, 2014:
The Rattlesnake Round-Up will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, March 9, 2014:
The Rattlesnake Round-Up will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Round-Up ticket prices for adults (13 and up) are $10 per person. Tickets for students (6-12) are $5 per person. The Jaycees will be offering a military discounted price with a military ID of $5 per person all three days.
Jaycee sponsored dances:
On Friday, March 7, from 8 p.m. to midnight Jason Eady and Adam Hood will perform. They are know as the Southern Brothers from Another Mother. Ticket prices at $10 per person.
On Saturday, March 8, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Theiving Birds will perform with Hogg Maulies opening up the show. Ticket prices are $15 per person and $25 per couple.
Both dances are BYOB with a cooler charge. No glass containers will be allowed. Doors open both nights at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door. All Jaycee sponsored dances are held at the Jaycee Barn at 307 W. 4th Street in Sweetwater.
The Annual Sweetwater Rifle & Pistol Club Gun, Knife, and Coin Show is held annually during the World’s Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up in the Nolan County Coliseum Annex in Newman Park in Sweetwater with this being their 54th year.
The show will be open Friday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, March 8, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket prices are $5 (12 and over) per person. Children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by a parent.
