Lubbock, TX — Ray Arnold Johnson, 76, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Forrest Heights United Methodist Church in Lubbock with Rev. Ross Dunn officiating. Graveside services will be held at Decker Cemetery in Nolan County, TX on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
A family visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, at Franklin Bartley Funeral Home, 4444 South Loop 289, Lubbock, TX.
Ray was born Oct. 22, 1935, in Nolan County, TX to Oliver and LaDonia Hanna Johnson. He was a graduate of Blackwell High School in 1954. He married Glenna Tubb July 14, 1956, in Blackwell and they moved to Lubbock, TX where he lived until his death.
Ray was a member of Forrest Heights United Methodist Church. He retired at age of 62 after working for Westway Supply and Western Windmills for 41 years. Ray loved fishing, watching sports and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife Glenna; a daughter, Sheryl Jane Spore and husband Chris of Midland, TX; a son, Kurt Johnson and wife Shelley of Ringgold, GA; three grandchildren, Whitney Sink and husband Ryan of Ringgold, GA, Kailey Jane Barfield and husband Russell of Portland, Oregon and Barrett Johnson of Ringgold, GA; and a great-grandchild, Emaline Jane Sink of Ringgold, GA.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Sink, Russell Barfield, Chris Spore, Ryan Tubb, Ceason Tubb and Bailey Tubb.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Durwood Finley and all his school mates at Blackwell High School.
