Cancer Fears the Walker was the motto for this year's Nolan and Scurry County Relay for Life. Shown are members of area communities in the first lap — the Survivor Lap — celebrating those who have survived cancer or who are currently battling cancer.
Teams of Nolan and Scurry County residents gathered at the Sweetwater High Track on Friday, May 18, at 7 p.m. for an overnight relay against cancer. This year’s event marked the 10th anniversary of the Relay in Sweetwater.
A silent auction, games, music and live entertainment kept people entertained throughout the night. Organizers also hosted a “Relay Idol” karaoke competition. Relay For Life’s Luminaria Ceremony took place after sundown, honoring the community’s cancer survivors and remembering those lost to the disease.
