This week in local church news

AGLOW INTERNATIONAL
Aglow International Sweetwater Community Lighthouse invites you to come join us for worship and testimony on Jan. 8, at 7 p.m. at Holiday Inn Express. The guest speakers will be the Aglow team.

BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
Happy New Year! That is the cry heard around the world this week. Young and old watched as the ball fell in Time Square, bells rang, people hugged, kissed, and sang, “Should old acquaintance be forgot and ever brought to mind . . .”, and 2012 was gone as 2013 appeared.
A new year brings new resolutions, challenges, emotional ups and downs, and new opportunities. Although we do not know what the New Year holds, we can rest assured that God holds the New Year and that day by day; He will give us grace, strength and mercy.
It is like the old sailors who were on a leaky old ship in the middle of a rough and stormy sea. One of them asked the captain, “Are we safe?” He said, “Well, the boilers are weak and may explode at any moment. The ship is taking on water. To be very honest with you, we may go up, or we may go down, but at any rate, we are going on.”
This year make a determination that you are going on no matter what comes your way.
If you don’t have a church home, we would like to welcome you to come and visit us this Sunday. Our Life Groups, which is for all ages, starts at 10 a.m.  Our morning service is at 10:50 a.m. and our evening service begins at 6 p.m. Come and let us be a blessing to you as we worship the Lord together.

EMMANUEL FELLOWSHIP CHURCH
We invite you to join us this Sunday at Emmanuel Fellowship Church! Our Sunday morning services are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Both morning services are filled with the same warm fellowship, dynamic worship and life-giving messages, as well as top-notch children’s ministry and nursery care for children up to fifth grade.
January is a good month for new life! This Sunday, Pastor Eric will be launching a New Year series entitled “Bringing Faith to Life!” Come listen to this week’s message as we receive a fresh word on how to see resurrection occur in every area of our faith! We will also be celebrating with many from our church family this month as they follow the Lord Jesus in baptism, so don’t miss this special time.
We look forward to launching the Spring Semester with a night of worship on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. You and your whole family are invited to get the new year started off right, with a night devoted to nothing but worshiping King Jesus!
We also invite you to step into The Growth Central Bookstore when you visit EFC. It’s stocked with Bibles, study aids, devotionals, marriage and parenting resources, worship music, inspirational gifts, original art and fiction books — there’s something for everyone! The bookstore will be open between Sunday morning services, from 10:30-11 a.m. and 12:30-1 p.m.

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
First Presbyterian Church would like to invite you to worship with us on Sundays at 10:45 a.m.
The three Kings were led to baby Jesus by the light of the star. When they found him, they fell on their knees to worship and adore him. They gave Jesus the gifts they possessed. May we, too, find ourselves at the stable one last time to see the baby Jesus before he leaves with his parents on the flight to Egypt. We are called to offer our best to him!
The lectionary for Epiphany Sunday is Isaiah 60:1-6 and Matthew 2:1-12, the story of the wise men. Pastor Kary’s sermon title is “And Lo, the Star”. Visitors are always welcome at First Presbyterian Church; we hope you will join us in this blessed New Year! The church is located at 14th and McCauley. Adult Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. Worship service is at 10:45 a.m. A nursery is provided for all church activities for children kindergarten age and younger.
