Loyd Levens funeral

A funeral service was held for retired Sweetwater firefighter Loyd Levens on Thursday. On the way to Sweetwater Cemetery, Loyd got to take his final ride in Sweetwater's newest fire truck and was honored by Sweetwater firefighters. On Oct. 23, 1952, Loyd moved to Sweetwater and went to work for the Sweetwater Fire Department. After 29 years, he retired in 1981. “Loyd Levens was a fireman who retired before I was out of high school but was a great fireman and nice guy," said Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden. "I had the privilege of helping him after a fall and had met him a few other times. He was always a fun patient. It is an honor to be able to do this for our guys."

As Loyd's youngest child I would like to express my deepest gratitude and thanks to the Sweetwater Fire Department for their professionalism and dedication at our time of loss. I would like to also thank all of the friends, family, visitors who helped us in our time of grieving. The loving support of all of our friends and family has been much appreciated.
