Military graveside services for Rev. H. Floyd Shifflett, 85, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Carolyn Easter officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Military graveside rites will be performed by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home
Shifflett died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
He was born June 26, 1926, in Roby. He married Dorothy Hines on Nov. 17, 1950, in Roby. He was a member of Faith Harvest Pentecostal Church in Sweetwater. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. He was a pastor for over 50 years before retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Shifflett of Sweetwater; two daughters, Carolyn Easter of Big Spring and Samantha Mrazek of Palestine, TX; two sons, David Shifflett of Sweetwater and Henry Floyd Shifflett II and wife Ann of Fayetteville, Ark.; two sisters, Peggy Franklin of Sweetwater and Ethelene Shifflett of Spartanberg, S.C.; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Kathlene Shifflett; eight brothers; one sister; his parents, David and Ola Shifflett; five grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be Jake Easter, Sgt. Matthew Shifflett, Steven Estevez, PFC Nicholas Fitts, Johnny Snyder, Steven Lampore, Travis Shifflett and Christopher Berry, Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Garmoe, Riley Garmoe, Jason Garmoe Dylan Lampore and Kade Ostrovsky.
