Rev. Ken Northcutt was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at his home in Sweetwater. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Avondale Baptist Church in Sweetwater with Rev. Terry White officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Richland Springs Cemetery in Richland Springs, Texas under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Family visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 from 6-7:30 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Wesley Barnes, Robert Bowen, T.L. Dickerson, R.D. Moore, Homer Grimes, Glen Wilson, Raymond Reves and Tim Kirby.
Honorary Pallbearer is Lowell Williams.
Ken is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sue; a daughter, Connie Dove of The Colony, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Dove of Fairfield, Texas; two grandsons, Brett Dove and wife Carolyn of Arlington, Texas and Brady Dove of The Woodlands, Texas; and two great-grandsons, Clark Alan Dove and Joseph Dove of Arlington with numerous other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe âShortyâ and Christine Northcutt; a son, Winfred Alan Dove; a brother, Bob; and a nephew.
He was a graduate of Colorado City High School, receiving a track scholarship to attend and graduate from Baylor University. Ken married Nelda Sue Wood Jan. 29, 1988, in Roscoe. He retired from Woodâs Boots in 1994, surrendering to the calling as a minister. He served as Pastor to the Dorn Methodist Church for four years and was founder of New Life Bible Ministries in Colorado City. Ken became an ordained Baptist Minister and was a member of Avondale Baptist Church in Sweetwater. He had owned Kenâs Shoes in Brady, Texas and other locations. He served two terms in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Officer Candidate School to become a Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Ken loved sports, the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, NASCAR and track and field events.
