Ribbon cutting planned for Doug Sitter State Farm

Shown are Doug and Brandi Sitter with one of the two new State Farm agencies, located at 208 Lamar with their two children Chloe, who will be turning four in April, and eight-month old Maddox. The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will honor the new business with a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012.

Sweetwater is getting another "good neighbor" as State Farm has introduced another agent to the area, Doug Sitter.
A native of the Midwest, Sitter graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Communications and pursued his post-graduate degree in Business at Webster University. Prior to joining State Farm, he worked for three years in Europe, including England, Germany, Ireland and Scotland.
While in the Midwest, he met his wife, Brandi, who grew up on a cotton farm in O'Donnell, Texas. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Merchandising and Marketing.
As their family grew, the Sitters wanted to move closer to family. Following the advice of his father-- "a happy wife is a happy life", Doug moved his family to Dallas, but the desire to be even closer to family and small-town life still lingered. When presented with the chance to open a State Farm agency either in Dallas or Sweetwater, he chose the latter.
The couple has been married for five years and have two children: Chloe, who will be turning four in April, and eight-month old Maddox. Since moving to Sweetwater, the Sitter family have visited several local churches and they look forward to involving themselves with volunteering efforts and local programs like they have in the past, like the Big Brother program and the Race for the Cure breast cancer campaign.
Doug has also become a member of the Kiwanis and Lions clubs, and as a former tennis player in college, Doug hopes to work with local youth to produce future tennis all-stars.
Brandi works with Doug at the agency, achieving their joint dream of owning their own business and working together. They say that they consider themselves "lucky" to work alongside an experienced staff.
Jessica Rangel--the former manager of the T&P Credit Union (where the new State Farm office is located)--joined the new staff, along with Danica Hickson and Rosa Johnson. Both Hickson and Johnson have experience working with State Farm, and thirteen of Johnson's twenty years of experience in insurance have been with a local State Farm branch.
Doug noted that his office on 208 Lamar is a prime and convenient location for business that includes easy parking access. He stated that the need for a second State Farm agent in Sweetwater was presented by the company because of the current customers and potential for growth in the area.
"Having two agents is great for Sweetwater as it employs more local people, and State Farm can now offer even more support and involvement for the community and their families."
One of the ways the branch will strive for that involvement in upcoming events that will be promoted through local media and their marquee sign on Lamar.
On Friday, March 23, a ribbon cutting at their office with the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will take place at 10:30 a.m. In addition, the Easter Bunny will be making a stop at their State Farm agency on Saturday, March 31 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
"We are very grateful how the community has embraced our family," said Doug. "We are looking forward to a long, successful life in Sweetwater where we can raise a family and get to know yours."
