Services for Ricky Apalonio Amaya, 53, of Dallas, formerly of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Amaya died on April 3, 2014 in Abilene.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1960 in Sweetwater. He grew up in Sweetwater attending Sweetwater schools and has lived in Dallas for the past 15 years. He is a U.S. Army veteran and was an auto mechanic. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.
Survivors include his sons, Emit Amaya of Dallas, Ricky Amaya, Jr. of Sweetwater and Victor Amaya of Sweetwater; daughters, Delores McCoy of Sweetwater and Angelica Amaya of Lubbock; mother, Delores Amaya of Clifton; sisters, Janie Whitehorn of Duncanville, Rosemary Garcia of Merkel, Lena Smith of Clifton and Frances Hilaro of Big Spring; brother, Emiterio Amaya, Jr. of Round Rock; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emiterio Amaya; and his grandparents.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Pallbearers include Ralph Martinez, Jr., Rene Garcia, Roy Garcia, Ronnie Garcia, Edward Guerrero and Harvey Guerrero.
