Holy Mass of Christian burial for Rosa Q. Alvarado, 79, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with father Michael Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Alvarado died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, in Abilene.
She was born June 25, 1931, in Mitchell County, Texas. She married Carlos Alvarado Oct. 22, 1947, in Abilene. Rosa was an LVN and had worked for Simmons Memorial Hospital and Sweetwater Nursing Center. She had lived in Sweetwater since 1939, moving from Baird, Texas. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Rosa Aguilar and husband Daniel, Sr. of Sweetwater; four sons, Carlos X. Alvarado of Sweetwater, Victor Q. Alvarado of Sweetwater, Julian Alvarado of Sweetwater and Lee Raymon Alvarado of McCamey, TX; four sisters, Sara Quirino of Amarillo, Connie Palacios of Sweetwater, Rachel Quirino of Stamford and Tina Cox of Tolar, TX; two brothers, Librador Quirino, Jr. of Arlington and David Quirino of Annapolis, MD; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in December 1988; sisters, Carmen Q. Cardoza in 2001, Lucia Quirino in 2006, Rosa Vilia Quirino; brothers, Manuel and Refugio Quirino; and her parents, Librador, Sr. and Sara Quirino.
Pallbearers will be Miguel Alvarado, Chris Anthony Aguilar, Val Ortega, Isaiah Garcia, Rufus Palacios, Jr., Anthony R.
Palacios and Victor Lee Alvarado.
Honorary pallbearers will be Julian X. Aguilar, Carlos X. Alvarado, Jr. and Danny Aguilar.
