Roscoe, Blackwell end seasons on losing note

Recap of season-ending games for Roscoe (shown) and Blackwell

The 2011 football season ended for Blackwell and Roscoe on Friday, and both finished rebuilding years on a losing note.
Roscoe had its best de-fensive effort of the year, but lost 12-2 at Rotan to finish a winless campaign at 0-10 (0-5 in District 7-1A, Division II). Roscoe led 2-0 after a first-period safety when Eric Padilla recorded a tackle in the end zone, but Rotan scored the next 12 points and held on for the win.
Roscoe had just 87 yards rushing, led by Padilla’s 43 on 12 runs, and 12 passing, but also gave up its fewest points in a game as the defense held Rotan to 207 yards. Rotan scored its last points on a 44-yard fumble recovery by Deandre Lee with :03 left until halftime, and both teams played to a scoreless deadlock over the final two periods.
Despite having just one win this season, Blackwell (1-9) entered Friday’s sea-son-ender with a playoff chance before losing 68-20 against Panther Creek, which claimed a postseason berth with the win to to go 2-1 district and 6-4 overall. No other information on either team was available at presstime.
Blackwell’s only victory was a 1-0 forfeit decision over Novice.
