Plowboys lose defensive battle at Roby; Hermleigh wins shootout with Hornets

Roscoe’s Plowboys easily had their best defensive effort of the season. At the same time, the Blackwell Hornets had a season-high point total in their contest.
Yet both teams are still in search of their first victories despite those milestones, as they are now 0-7 overall.
Roscoe (0-2 in district) did not allow a point over the final three periods but also failed to score against Roby in a 14-0 defeat.
Chris DeLeon ran for 70 yards and also recovered a fumble for the Plowboys.
Blackwell came out on the short end of a wild 81-60 shootout at Hermleigh in the Hornets’ final non-dis-trict game. Hermleigh is now 5-2 overall, while Roby improved to 2-5.
Roscoe’s other top defen-ders were Luke Rovig with 12 tackles, Landon Jones with 11 tackles and Matthew Cuellar with 10 tackles.
