Roscoe High School qualified its girls cross country team for the state meet at Round Rock after a third-place finish Saturday at the Region II-A meet in Arlington. The top three teams and 10 individuals at regionals advance to state.
Jacinda Morales was the top individual for Roscoe, placing 10th with a time of 12:49. Other team members were Amber Craig, 37th (13:43.70); Mirian Solis, 40th (13:47.59); Justina Brasuell, 41th (13:47.59); Katie McIntire, 80th (14:28.93); Crystal Luna, 107th (15:01.58); and Kim Norris, 123rd (15:16.24).
Roscoe had 177 points as a team to finish behind only first-place Hamlin (52) and Goldthwaite (152). The state meet will be this Saturday.
Highlandâ€™s girls placed 15th at regionals. Members were Jessica McCain, 64th (14:12.01); Lora Stewart, 68th (14:16.22); Sierra Allen, 86th (14:33.35); Beth Richburg, 90th (14:38.59); Julia Tibbit, 108th (15:02.69); Callie Sandusky, 143rd (15:43.07); and Tarin Weldy, 162nd (16:56.11).
Highlandâ€™s boys competitor at the regional meet was Sheldon Hall, who placed 124th individually with a time of 21:25.72.
season passes sold
The Sweetwater Indepen-dent School District will sell season basketball passes for all high school and middle school regular-season home games through Friday, Nov. 12 at the administration building or SHS games. The passes are $20 each. For more information, please call 235-8601, ext. 116.
Rainbolt to lead
benefit golf clinic
honoring Joe Bagby
on Nov. 20 at SCC
Former Sweetwater High School golfer Kelly Rainbolt will conduct a Joe Bagby Benefit Golf Clinic Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Sweetwater Country Club. There will be a $10 minimum donation to participate. Clinics will be held for children who are ages 3-7 from 10-10:45; ages 8-13 from 11-11:45; and ages 14-18 from noon-12:45.
After the last clinic, a long drive contest will be held for persons of all ages at a cost of $5 for every two shots that are attempted.
All clinic proceeds will go to the family of Joe Bagby. Persons need to pre-register by Nov. 17.

SHS loses final
fall tennis match
Sweetwater High School lost to Snyder 9-7 in its last 2010 fall tennis match held recently.
Winners for SHS were the mixed doubles team of Chris Hernandez and Mad-ison Meneses (8-1) as well as the girls doubles team of Heidi Taylor and Sarah Ramirez (8-5), Taylor (6-0, 6-1) and Dugan Thompson (6-4, 6-2) in girls singles and Joe Lopez (6-3, 7-5) and Michael Foust (6-1, 6-3) in boys singles. The season will resume on Feb. 11.
playoff set Thursday
Roscoe and Munday will meet in a Class 1A, Division II bi-district football playoff at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Tuscolaâ€™s Jim Ned High School. Roscoe comes into the game with a 4-6 season record and qualified for the playoffs as the third-place team in District 7-A, Division II while Munday (8-2) qualified as the second-place team in District 8-A, Division II.
Roscoe and Munday also played Sept. 25 and Munday won, 31-0. Thursdayâ€™s win-ner will face Iraan in the area playoffs next week.
Blackwell to host
Blackwell will be hosting a Division II, Region II six-man bi-district playoff between Sterling City and Novice at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Both teams enter the game with 6-4 season rec-ords, but Sterling City won first place in District 7 with a perfect 3-0 record while Novice (2-1) was second in District 8, which is also Blackwellâ€™s district. Sterling City will be the home team.
banquet to be
held Dec. 6
Sweetwater High School will hold its football banquet to honor the 2010 Mustangs on Monday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Center at Texas State Technical College. Tickets will be sold at the SHS fieldhouse until Dec. 2 at noon and are $15 each.
All of the varsity, JV and freshman football players, cheerleaders and student trainers will be introduced and a highlight video of the 2010 season will be shown.
LSGA meets Nov. 18
The Lake Sweetwater Golf Association will be holding a meeting Thursday, Nov. 18 in the dining area of the LaQuinta Hotel. It is vital that all members attend.
Blackwell set to
hold Ranch Rodeo
Blackwellâ€™s Ranch Rodeo will be held Saturday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. The event will be at the Blackwell Roping Arena and will consist of calf branding, doctoring, trailer loading, wild cow milking and team penning.
A concession area will be available.
