The Roscoe Plowboys are still in search of their first win of the year after losing its District 7-1A opener to Hamlin, 40-8, on Friday.

Roscoe is still in search of its first win of the year after losing its District 7-1A opener to Hamlin, 40-8, on Friday, while Highland (2-4) was a 46-0 loser to six-man power Sterling City in its final non-district game.

Hamlin, the defending district champion, was relied primarily on a strong passing attack to defeat the Plowboys (0-6, 0-1) in Roscoe. The Pied Pipers’ quarterback, Taylor Lambert, was 13-of-16 for 277 yards and four touchdowns — one each to Tanner Kieschnick, Marcus Connally, Brandon Lee and Matthew Fields. Hamlin running back Darius Lee ran 17 times for 110 yards and two TDs for Hamlin (2-4). Roscoe’s Eduar-do Gallegos scored on a 63-yard run for the Plowboys and Eric Padilla ran over a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter. Gallegos ran for 91 yards and Dillon Freeman threw for 47. Padilla recovered a fumble, while Gallegos intercepted a pass.
Sterling City 46, Highland 0
Sterling City, the No. 4-ranked team in Six-Man Division II, held Highland to 89 yards while amassing 303 in its victory at Highland. The Eagles (5-2) did most of their damage with a 32-point first period, and claimed a mercy-rule win after scoring a final touchdown late in the third stanza.
For Highland, which is off this Friday, Tyler Falcon rushed 13 times for 82 yards. Michael Hyde had seven solo tackles and Steven Tester five to pace the defense.
