Roscoe narrowly missed getting a clean sweep of the team titles Saturday in varsity track competition at Rotanâ€™s Double Moun-tain Relays. Roscoe had 145 points to win the boys division, while the Roscoe girls scored 99 points to finish just one behind first-place Robyâ€™s 100.
The boysâ€™ winners were Jesus Leanos in both the 1600 (5:19.41) and 3200 (11:12), Dillon Freeman in the 300 hurdles (49.10), Devon Freeman in the pole vault (12-0) and Lan-don Jones in the discus (104-5). Dillon Freeman, Eduardo Gallegos, Jones and Jose Rangel also ran on the first-place 1600 relay (3:49.63). Girlsâ€™ winners were Jacinda Morales in the 400 (1:06.20) and 800 (2:28.23), Alura Renteria in the 1600 (6:52.77) and Amber Craig in the 3200 (15:03.50), while Katie McIntire, Morales, Olivia Rovig and Whitney Wil-liams ran on the first-place 1600 relay (5:10.51).
The boysâ€™ 400 relay of Chris Deleon, Dillon Free-man, Gallegos and Rovig was second (47.31), as was Dillon Freeman in the pole vault (9-0). Placing third were Luke Rovig in the 100 (12.07), Gallegos in the 400 (55.26), Rangel in the 800 (2:19.68) Brant Burnett (12:14) and Kees-ton Ford in the triple jump (33-3). The 800 relay of Ford, Jones, Leanos and Rovig was fourth (1:41.68), as was Burnett in the 800 (2:26.95) and Rovig in the shot (34-3 1/2). Placing fifth were Ford in the 100 (13.0), and Rangel in the 200 (25.34) and Alex Rhoades was sixth in the discus (83-1). For the girls, Craig was second in the 1600 (7:05.21); Renteria was second in the 3200 (15:11.27); Samantha Ortega was fourth in both the 400 (1:16.86) and 800 (3:02.69); Natalie Antho-ny was fourth in the discus (65-1) and sixth in the shot (24-5); and Jesse Pena was fifth in the discus (61-1).
