Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department

Due to the dry conditions and recent surge in wildfires, the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) is in need of assistance.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Roscoe VFD is now establishing a drive to restock the firefighters' Recovery Supplies Program. "All items are greatly appreciated in this time of need," said drive organizers.
Items needed include all flavors of Gatorade, Chap-Stick, wipes, Visine eye drops, sunscreen and hand sanitizer. Drop off sites for the items are located at the Sweetwater Wal-Mart and Roscoe City Hall.
Monetary donations for sandwiches, chips, etc. will also be accepted and can be dropped off at the Roscoe City Hall. Auxiliary Members can also be contacted by calling Zela Armstrong at 235-4110 and Valerie Pruitt at 766-3536.

Emergency Service district

This is exactly why Nolan County needs an emergency service district. Currently only the taxpayers of Sweetwater foot the bill for the entire county for fire protection (not counting the tiny amount the county gives the VFDs). Creation of an emergency service district would allow for county wide taxation and give the taxpayers of Sweetwater some relief. Lets let the windfarms and Tenaska pay the bills.
