Ruth Barton passed away on March 25, 2011, in Sweetwater, Texas surrounded by her children. She was 86. She was born on January 27, 1925 in Bingham Canyon, Utah. She met her husband of almost 65 years, Adrian Barton, in Salt Lake City during World War II. They married one month after they met just before he shipped out to the South Pacific. After the war they made their home in Sweetwater. Adrian passed away on September 17, 2009.
Ruth was a stay at home mom and a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her love of life, her creativity, and imagination inspired the lives of those who knew and loved her. She was also a talented cook and loved to bake for her family and friends. Ruth leaves behind three children; Gary Barton of Duncanville, TX and Sue Jennings, Glenn Barton of Sweetwater and Terri Smith, Gayla Williams and husband Kent, of Benbrook, TX.
Grandchildren include Donna Barton and Erica Barton of Austin, TX and their mother Betty Barton of Denton, TX; Erin Logan of Houston, TX; Kyle Williams of Lubbock, TX; Lacy Abbott of Fort Worth, TX; and Jennifer Nelson of Sweetwater, TX. Ruth is also survived by her sister Evelyn Rowland of Murray, Utah.
Ruth was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church in Sweetwater.
Visitation will be held at McCoy Funeral Home on Sunday, March 27, from 2-4 p.m. Services will be held on Monday, March 28 at 10 a.m. at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Reverend Rayburn Blair and Reverend Jerry Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Nolan Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Abbott, Colonel Kent Williams, USAF (Ret), Kyle Williams, Hollis Ellis, Christian Logan and Jeffery Rowland.
