Salvage Yard Student Ministry to host chili cook-off and dodgeball tournament

April 26, 2014

Friendly competition brings the best out of us. Eating good food helps put the best back in us! The youth of Emmanuel Fellowship have created an opportunity for the community of Sweetwater to enjoy both. The public is invited to join the fun Saturday, May 3, at the Texas State Technical College Student Center for the 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off and Dodge Ball Tournament hosted by The Salvage Yard Student Ministry.
Games will begin at 10 a.m. with chili taste testing and judging beginning at 11 a.m. The dodgeball event is free to spectators and is guaranteed to be a hit for the whole family. For $5, those attending can become a judge in the chili cook-off and enjoy a full bowl of delicious homemade chili.
Anyone wishing to put together a dodgeball team for the competition or register to enter the chili cook-off must do so by April 30, by contacting Pastor Loran Rule at Emmanuel Fellowship Church, or by calling 236-9200 to receive a team packet containing all the team requirements. All dodgeball tournament participants must be 14 years of age or older. For the younger dodgeball enthusiasts in the crowd, there will be a free intermission game around noon for all children in grades 1-7.
OMG Tumble, Dance and Cheer will also be performing during the intermission and offering all winners in the “kids” dodgeball round one month of free lessons. All proceeds from this event benefit The Salvage Yard Youth Center and their transportation needs for summer missions and camp. For complete details log on to www.efcsweetwater.com.
