Sandra Jean Blakeney passed away at her home on Monday, Jan. 22, 2013.
She was born June 9, 1946 in Edna, Texas to Clifton R. and Wilma Smith. She married Joel W. Blakeney on Nov. 10, 1966, in Midland, Texas. They had three sons, James E. Blakeney, Joel W. Blakeney and Robert C. Blakeney.
She was a member of the Word of God Church in Sweetwater, and a good Christian who was a devoted worker at her church. She considered members of the church to be her family and close friends. She also helped many people that were in need.
She is survived by her Husband, Joel W. Sr. of Sweetwater; two sons, Robert C. and wife Cassandra of Seymore and Joel W. Jr. of Beaumont. Also, her mother, Wilma Smith of Midland; two sisters, Twyla Thames and husband Bob of Midland and Bobbie Bronaugh of Midland; brother-in-law, Mike Chambers of Sinton; ex-daughter-in-law, Regena J. Cleveland of Sweetwater; last, but not least, her grandchildren who were the loves of her life, Sean, Dale, and Timothy of Sweetwater and Billy Blakeney of Seymour. She also left behind many, many friends that she was devoted to.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clifton R. Smith; one sister, Brenda Chambers; and son, James Blakeney of Tulsa, Okla.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Word of God Church, 311 Ash Street in Sweetwater with Pastor Dale Stowe presiding over the service. The service will be under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013.
Pallbearers will be Sean Blakeney, Dale Blakeney, Steven Bronaugh, Royce Clepper, Kenny Ballenger and Lewis Kamer.
Honorary pallbearer will be Timothy Blakeney.
