Students at Roscoe Collegiate Independent School District began their school year this morning.
The school was eligible to apply for an early start waiver for the 2013-2014 School Year to assist in facilitating the Early College High School/STEM Academy.
The waiver is applicable for two instructional years and allows the district to start classes two weeks prior to the fourth Monday in August. Classes will conclude May 16, 2014.
Two distinct advantages this calendar provides the district include increased instructional days before the state administered standardized tests thus, fewer less productive days after assessment and close alignment of the instructional calendar with Western Texas College, the district’s academic dual-credit partner.
Sweetwater, Highland and Blackwell schools will begin their school year on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013.
