Several track athletes qualify for area meets

Roscoe, Blackwell and Highland tracksters advance to area track meets

Track athletes from Ros-coe, Blackwell and High-land recently had top-four finishes in district events to qualify for area track meets scheduled this Thursday.
Roscoe’s athletes went to Albany for District 9-1A competition. Boys qualifiers were Jesus Leanos, who was first in both the 1600 run (5:04.64) and the 3200 (10:54.94); Dillon Freeman, first in the 300 hurdles (43.81); Devon Freeman, second in the pole vault (12-6); and Eduardo Galle-gos, fourth in the 400 dash (52.66).
Roscoe’s girls qualifiers are Jacinda Morales, who was second in the 800 (2:29.88) and placed third in the 400 dash 1:02.96); Amber Craig, who was third in the 3200 (14:04.96) and placed fourth in the 1600 (6:17.96); Torrey Willman, who was fourth in the 100 hurdles (18.21); and Alura Renteria, who was fourth in the 3200 (14:20.60).
Blackwell and Highland reported only boys results. Blackwell’s Jayden Jones made it in four events as he was first in the 100 dash (11.32) and pole vault (11-6), third in the 200 (23.91) and fourth in the long jump (18-10 1/4).
Blackwell’s Mark Monroe qualified for area competition in three events as he was second in the 110 hurdles (17.71) and fourth in both the 300 hurdles (49.00) and high jump (5-0). Also qualifying for Blackwell was Mason Magness, who was second in the pole vault (11-6) and fourth in the triple jump (35-2 1/2).
Highland’s individual boys qualifiers were Shel-don Hall, first in the 800 (2:10.37); Shelby Howard, second in the 300 hurdles (48.59) and Peyton Howard, third in the pole vault (10-0); and Michael Hyde, who was fourth in the pole vault (10-0). The Highland boys 800 relay also qualified by placing fourth with a time of 1:42.18.
The members of the boys 800 relay for Highland were Hall, Tyler Falcon, Gaga Soedarsono and Ethan Wilson.
Roscoe’s area qualifiers will compete Thursday at Garden City, while Black-well and Highland will be sending their area qualifiers to compete Thursday at a meet in Trent.
