ShaQuita Bray: Classifieds Representative

If you've ever walked into the Sweetwater Reporter office and wondered who the smiling face is that greets you, wonder no more. That lovely lady is ShaQuita Bray.Quita was born in Ft. Worth and grew up in Abilene where she attended Abilene High School. She moved to Sweetwater in 2006, and has remained here ever since. Her boyfriend of seven years, Josh Galindo, helps to raise their two children, Malashia, 5, and Cameron, 3. Both little ones attend J.P. Cowen. "I'm very family oriented," said Quita. "We do lots of activities with the kids; bike riding, park visits, movie nights. Every Sunday night we let the kids pick out a movie; then Josh and I get to pick a movie." Quita's hobbies include reading mystery/detective novels, movies, cooking and baking. "I'm always finding something on Pinterest that I want to try," she said.Quita started with the Sweetwater Reporter in March 2012 in the circulation/mail room. Those in circulation are in charge of counting, stuffing and distributing the daily run of each newspaper. Every day they count out, place advertisement inserts into, and bundle together thousands of newspapers to be distributed throughout Sweetwater and the surrounding areas.In September 2012, there was a shuffling of employees and an opening popped up for a new classifieds representative. Quita made the decision to apply for the position and not long after, she began her training.The classifieds rep. doesn't just deal with classified ads (garage sales, help wanted, homes for rent/sale, lost pets/items, etc.); Quita answers the phones/classifieds e-mail, takes payments and renews subscriptions, all while building ads and putting together the classifieds pages in the paper.
