Shelton receives LSC track honor

Morgan Shelton, a former Sweetwater High School athlete, has been named the Lone Star Conference Track Athlete of the Week follow-ing her outstanding performance for West Texas A&M University at the ASU/David Noble Relays in San Angelo, the league office announced on Thursday.
Shelton, who is a junior at WTAM, finished first in the women’s 100 hurdles with a school-record time of 14.08.
She then led off the Lady Buffs’ 4 x 400 relay team that eventually finished third overall with a school-record time of 3:49.06. Shelton also set a provisional mark in the women’s long jump event, placing second overall with a school-record leap of 18-7, and also placed third in the javelin with a throw of 120 feet.
