Shermco hosts ‘Ride for Wind’

Last year they raised up to six thousand dollars in sponsorships.
These proceeds go out to not just National locations, but locally too.

Shermco indudstries, Purvis Industries, Schaeffler Group Industrial, Texas Wind Energy Clearinghouse, Evans Enterprises/Wind Energy Division, Crane Services, Inc., Loctite, Dynapar, CL-Carbone Lorraine, Sweetwater-SEED, WES-Wind Engergy Services Company, Womack, SnTx Industrial Park.
For this years 2011 goal, they are looking to reach at least ten thousand dollars.
Shermco industries, as well as many other industries are trying to bring awareness to the community that women are able to work within the Wind Industry as well.
This money is raised for scholarships to get more women involved and show support. Even at the young age of being right out of High School. There are positions available throughout all of the Wind Energy Industry.
DeHart of Shermco industries noted. “It not only supports women involvement in the Wind Industry, it brings support within the community and other businesses.”
Howlett of Evans enterprises, Inc. would like to thank, Greg Wortham, (Executive Director of Texas Wind Energy Clearinghouse). “For all of his support and recognition he has brought to the Women of Wind Energy!”
Wortham, founded the West Texas Wind Energy Consortium (now expanded into the Texas Wind Energy Clearinghouse) in 2004. 
A West Texas native, Wortham’s experience includes almost 30 years in energy business, rural development, legislative action, public relations, and energy & environmental policy.  A 1979 graduate of Sweetwater High School, he has worked for the region as a staff member at the City of Sweetwater, Texas House of Representatives, Texas Senate, and U.S. Congress.  Since 2007, he has served as Mayor of Sweetwater, Texas.

For this years “Ride for Wind”.
It will be held in Sweetwater, Texas April 29-30, 2011. The bike show and other activities will begin on Friday night, followed by the rally on Saturday.
