Shooting at Apple Creek

Around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, the Sweetwater Police Department received a call about shots fired at Apple Creek Apartments on Hoyt Street in Sweetwater, according to Sweetwater Chief of Police Brian Frieda.
Two people were shot, one 24-year-old male was shot in the lower right abdomen and one 40-year-old male was shot in the right knee. One patient was transported by Sweetwater Emergency Services to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital from the scene and one was found quite a bit later and was also transported to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. The victim with the gunshot would to the abdomen underwent surgery to remove the material from the wound. The victim with the gunshot wound to the knee was treated and released from the hospital. Both gunshot wounds were considered non-life-threatening.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene in an unknown direction last night. There are thought to be up to four suspects involved and the SPD is working with the Texas Rangers and other area agencies to gather information and catch the suspects.
