SHS boys are regional alternates

The Sweetwater High School boys golf team finished as regional alternates after a third-place showing at the district tournament. From left are Guy Bond, Alex Castillo, Mason Andrews, Dylan Torres and Ryan Mercer. Mercer qualified as a medalist and will play in Region I-3A tournament, which is Wednesday and Thursday at Lubbock’s Meadowbrook Golf Course. This will be the third straight regional trip for Mercer, who is a junior. Meanwhile, the SHS girls golf team is playing in the regional tournament today and Tuesday at Lubbock. Katie High, Elise Lawrence, Jodie May, Sarah Witt and Alex Gomez are members of the team, which placed second at district to earn a berth. May, a senior, also qualified for regionals as a medalist last year.
