SHS girls 1st, boys are 4th at Clyde meet

Sweetwater boys & girls powerlifting teams

The Sweetwater High School girls placed first and the boys were fourth on Saturday at the Clyde powerlifting meet. Sweetwater hosts a qualifying meet this Saturday.
The SHS girls had 35 points to edge Abilene High (33). Individual winners were Bri Munoz (545 pounds) in the 114-pound class, Kelsey Painter (675) in the 132-pound class and Lexie Perez (670) in the 165-pound class. Cari Aguilar (630) was second in the 132-pound class. Taking third were Alexis Thompson (485) in the 105-pound class, Allie Zavaleta (570) in the 123-pound class and Loni Mendez (715) in the 181-pound class. Painter had the second-best Malone lift (589.14) and bench press (122.19) for the 97-to-165-pound classes.
Sam Nemir (1,165) won the boys 165-pound class and Jay Lomas (725) and Alex Garcia (1,100) were second in the 123- and 181-pound classes, respectively. Malcolm Jackson (1,065) was fourth in the 275-pound class; Adrian Lopez (930) was sixth in the 148-pound class; Hunter Johnson (1,030) was sixth in the 242-pound class; Zack Rosas (775) was eighth in the 132-pound class; Donald Baker (850) was ninth in the 148-pound class; Kyle Lambert (990) was 10th in the 198-pound class; Donato Gaxiola (745) was 10th and Andrew Davis (710) 11th in the 242-pound class; Kendall Rea (985) was 11th in the 220-pound class; Brandon Galindo (855) was 13th in the 165-pound class; Nick Nemir (695) was 15th and Ty Davis (685) 17th in the 148-pound class; and Steven Le (780) placed 18th and Mason Coldiron (680) was 21st in the 181-pound class.
