SHS squads host B-Spring in key contests

Big Spring at Sweetwater: Girls — 6:15 p.m., Boys — 7:30 p.m.

When Sweetwater’s teams play host to Big Spring today at Mustang Gym, both ends of the District 4-3A double-header will be critical for the home team.
The 3-2 girls need a win over 2-3 Big Spring to avoid falling into a third-place tie, while the 1-2 boys will try to keep Big Spring (0-3) win-less in district and possibly gain a third-place tie with Greenwood (2-1), which will travel to 3-0 Monahans.
The Sweetwater girls also need a win to at least stay within a game of second-place Greenwood (4-1). Both Sweetwater teams are coming off lopsided losses at Wylie, as the girls lost 66-28 while the boys were defeated 76-25.
In District 13-A, Division II, the 2-1 Highland boys entertain Westbrook (1-2) today while the first-place Highland girls (5-0, 22-3) face a 3-2 Westbrook team to begin the doubleheader.
The 0-3 Roscoe boys will host Hermleigh (2-1) as they try again for their first district win after losing to Loraine, 49-45, in overtime this past Friday. Also in 13-A, Roscoe’s girls (3-2) will try to hold on to a share of second place when they host Hermleigh (1-4).
Blackwell’s teams both had onesided defeats against Garden City on Friday as the girls lost 66-13 and the boys fell 72-24. They return to District 14-A, Division II action again when they play host to Paint Rock. Black-well’s boys are 1-6 while the Blackwell girls are 1-8.
