Three board members were sworn into office at the meeting of the SISD (Sweetwater Independent School District) Board of Trustees held on Monday night.
Jenny Cherry is not only the newest member of the board, but the youngest female to ever serve on the Sweetwater school board. She has filled the District 5 seat vacated by Nancy Johnson, who decided not to run for re-election.
Also, Genevieve Mayes will continue to serve as the District 1 member, while Becky Jimenez will once again represent District 2 on the school board.
As a result, the board was reorganized, as approval was given for the new officers. Mayes will serve as the board president, while Mark Meneses will be the vice president of the board.
In addition, Neal Hoover will take on the role of board secretary. Other board members include Jimenez, Cherry, Leah Andrews and Russ Petty.
