Mustang Bowl

For the first time in several years, fans will have the chance to watch a six-man football game at Sweetwater's Mustang Bowl this weekend.
Motley County (Matador) and Sterling City have agreed to hold their Division II six-man state semifinal here at 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to Danny Escobar with the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce playoff committee.
Motley County will bring an 8-5 record into the contest, while Sterling City is 9-4. Last week, Motley County outscored Miami 100-80 in its state quarterfinal while Sterling City beat Loraine 56-44. Friday's winner advances to next week's Division II championship game against either Milford (12-1) or Richland Springs (13-0), who will play their semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Comanche.
Escobar also said Sweetwater will host a Class 1A, Division II semifinal a week from Friday. That game will involve the winners of two state quarterfinal contests that are being played this week — Farwell (11-1) vs. Springlake-Earth (12-1) or Munday (11-2) vs. Windthorst (11-1).
