Smith awarded full scholarship by Texas A&M

Former Roscoe athlete Caden Smith has recently been awarded a full athletic scholarship by Texas A&M University, where he is a sophomore member of the team.
Smith was a redshirt freshman at A&M in the same class as Johnny Manziel his first season after making the team as a preferred walk-on. The 6-foot-3, 259-pound lineman has played in all four games this season for the 3-1 Aggies, ranked No. 10 in this week’s Associated Press poll.
Smith, an all-state athlete at Roscoe in football who also played on a Class 1A state champion basketball team during his sopho-more year, is the son of Randall and Coilla Smith of Roscoe. He was also a track standout who advanced to state in the discus and shot put in high school.
