Smith has PB at meet

Roscoe’s Caden Smith threw a personal-best dis-tance of 170 feet, 8 inches in winning the discus at a regional qualifiers meet in Glen Rose.
In addition, Smith placed first in the shot put with a throw of 54 feet, 9 1/2 inches and was third in the 110 hurdles (15.61). He will compete in all three events at the Region II-A meet at Abilene Christian Universi-ty starting Monday. Smith, a senior, is within reach of the school record in the discus of 174 feet, 3 inches held by his brother Cale, as well as the school shot put record of 56 feet, 6 inches held by David Browne. Cale Smith also currently holds the school record in the 110 hurdles of 14.3. Caden Smith will be trying to ad-vance to the state meet for the third straight year.
