SMS f’ball teams 3-for-4 vs. Wylie
Sweetwater went 3-for-4 in middle school football games Tuesday with Wylie, with both seventh grade teams winning.7th grade Red 18,Wylie 8After trailing 8-6 at half-time, Sweetwater Red ral-lied for the victory. Jacoby Hunt scored all three Colt touchdowns on runs of 2, 61 and 3 yards and also had a 53-yard run to Wylie’s 10. Sweetwater Red’s defen-sive standouts were Mat-thew Figueroa, who had an interception, along with Jacob Greenwood, Rocky Perez, Daniel Olguin, Gai-den Crelia, Junior Lawhon, Isaias Aguilar, Jordan McGee and Keenan Cox.7th grade White 14,Wylie 0Sweewater White scored all its points in the first half on Lowell Williams’ 56-yard run and a 29-yard run by Isaac Currie, while the defense pitched a shutout the entire game. Williams’ score was followed by Tyler Rea’s 2-point run. Currie (interception), Christian Reyes (interception), Aaron Caballero, Michael Garcia, Rea, Zach Vera, Manuel Navarrette, Dylan Heiskell and Thomas Browning led the defense.8th grade Red 6,Wylie 0An 8-yard run by Adrian Vizzerra was the only score Sweetwater Red needed. He had a 40-yarder to set up the TD and also caught two passes from Max Gomez. Defensive stars were Daniel Maldonado, Kris Warner, J’Corey Amos, Max Nemir, Michael Lawrence, Roman Acuna, Daniel Camacho, Denzell Moore, Joe Ruiz, Branson Guelker, Dylan Jimenez, Mark Lawrence, Cornelio Mendez, Isreal Vera and Colby Greenwood.Wylie 22,8th grade White 8Sweetwater White’s only points came on a 6-yard TD pass from Isaiah Gonzales to Matthew Trevino, plus a two-point Trevino catch from Gonzales. Gonzales hit four passes to Trevino and two to Adan Sanchez. Defensive standouts were Braxton Kenney, Sanchez, Gonzales, Victor Garcia, Spencer Little, Adrian Orte-ga and Robert Bohall.
