Sweetwater Middle School volleyball team results from the Lubbock Cooper tournament

Here are results from the Sweetwater Middle School volleyball teams at the Lub-bock Cooper tournament:
The 7th grade Red won first place, defeating Lubbock Cooper, Shallow-ater, Levelland and Lubbock Christian. They beat Lub-bock Cooper 25-16, 25-19; Shallowater 25-18, 25-8; and Levelland 17-25, 25-9, 25-21; then beat Lubbock Christian 25-14, 25-12.
The 7th grade White won second place as they beat Frenship 25-16, 25-18 and Trinity 19-25, 25-21, 25-18 before losing 20-25, 14-25 to Lubbock Cooper.
Against Frenship, Steph-anie Castillo served a team-high 14 points while Amber Smith served 13 points, Danielle Vega six and Jac-inda Garcia and Destiny Renteria three. In addition, Garcia had one attack.
Against Trinity, Smith had 17 service points while Vega had 13, Castillo and Robbi Hannah eight and Renteria three. Angel Hogan, Ren-teria, Hannah and Smith all had one attack.
Against Lubbock Cooper, Smith had 10 service points and Hannah two while Ren-teria had four attacks, Vega two and and Smith one.
The 8th grade White won the consolation title as the team lost 18-25, 24-26 to Frenship before beating Terra Vista 25-10, 24-26, 25-16 and then knocking off Shallowater 25-19, 25-13.
Rebecca Gonzales served nine points and Cheyenne Falcon and Katie Fox seven against Frenship while Alys-sa Soles served four points, Caitlyn Slaton three and Alaina Andrews and Carol-ine Guelker two. Fox had six attacks, Soles four, Slaton two and Guelker one.
Gonzales had 25 service points, Soles 11, Falcon nine, Fox seven, Slaton six, Marissa Moncada five and Andrews two against Terra Vista. Fox had 23 attacks, Falcon and Moncada three and Guelker, Soles, Rebec-ca Gonzales, Naomi Gonza-les and Andrews one. Fox served 13 points, Rebecca Gonzales 10, Soles eight, Moncada seven, Guelker four and Falcon two against Shallowater, while Fox had 13 attacks, Guelker eight and Moncada five.
