The Sweetwater volleyball team collected its first win in district play by defeating Snyder on Tuesday.
Now, Sweetwater (1-1) is back home Saturday to face a Big Spring team at 2 p.m. that is tied with Sweetwater in the district race for third place after losing to co-leader Wylie on Tuesday.
Big Spring (No. 17) is one of three District 4-3A teams ranked among the state’s top 20 by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
Wylie (2-0) is No. 1, while Monahans, which is also 2-0 in District 4-3A, is No. 20 in the latest poll.
This is Sweetwater’s last home match before playing its next three on the road at Wylie, Greenwood and Monahans. Sweetwater’s freshman and JV teams will also play Big Spring teams here on Saturday at noon and 1 p.m., respectively.
The freshmen (1-1) beat Snyder 25-23, 21-25, 25-15 for their first 4-3A win on Tuesday, but the JV (0-2) fell 21-25, 20-25 in its match. Both teams played well despite losing to Mona-hans in their 4-3A openers.
