Kristie Young, medical social worker with Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital

Kristie Young received her Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Science from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1989. She became a Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker in 1992.
Young is currently the Medical Social Worker at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater. Since joining the hospital in October of 2011, she began the hospital's first Caregiver Support Group. She arranges for monthly speakers for the group and facilitates a time for family caregivers to find needed support and encouragement.
As the hospital's social worker, Young assists with tasks such as discharge planning, providing social services consults for various hospital departments, and assisting patients in accessing local resources. She also provides support and direction to patients and families during difficult times, such as nursing home placement and coordinating hospice arrangements.
Young has served as a Social Worker for Early Childhood Intervention, Service Coordinator for MHMR, Social Services Representative for State Senator Teel Bivins and case manager for Big Brothers and Sisters.
