Sweetwater varsity basketball preview

After a tough one-point loss on Tuesday at Hawley in their season opener, the Sweetwater boys basketball team hopes to rebound sharply against Coleman in the Mustangs’ home opener at 6:30 p.m. today.
The contest is the first of four straight at home for Sweetwater. The Mustangs will host Colorado City on Monday and Andrews on Tuesday before entertaining Wall on Nov. 29. Both the freshman and JV boys play at 5 p.m. today prior to the varsity game.
The 3-0 Sweetwater girls play at Class 5A Abilene High at 7:30 p.m. today. The Lady Mustangs return home to face 5A San Angelo Central on Monday, and host 5A Abilene Cooper on Tuesday. Roscoe’s girls host Cross Plains today and Highland and Blackwell have girls-boys doublehea-ders at Guthrie and Ira, re-spectively. Both Blackwell teams will be seeking their first win today as the girls are off to an 0-2 start, while the boys are playing their season opener. The Roscoe boys go to Colorado City on Tuesday for their opener.
