Sweetwater Mustang basketball

Starting today, the games that really count for the Sweetwater boys basketball team begin.
And no one can ac-cuse the Mustangs of easing into district play as they go to Wylie for their 5-3A opener that will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
Sweetwater (6-14) got a taste of the kind of competition it will face on Tuesday, when it lost in its final non-district game to Class 4A San Angelo Lake View 84-32. The Sweetwater girls (15-11 overall), who lost to Snyder 46-43 in Tuesday’s 5-3A opener, play first-place Wylie (2-0) at 6 p.m. to begin the doubleheader. In other Nolan County action, the Roscoe boys and girls try again for their first District 9-A, Division II wins when they travel to Rotan; and the Blackwell boys and girls each try for a second District 12-A, Division II win as they entertain Sterling City. The Highland boys (2-2) and girls (5-1) each have the night off in District 11-A, Division II.
