Stella Mae Smith

Stella Mae Smith was born Sept. 20, 1921, in White Flat Community, Texas. She passed away Jan. 29, 2012 at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen, Texas. She married Cleave A. Smith of the Palava Community, Texas on Dec. 2, 1939.
Family visitation will be held at the McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, Texas on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at the McCoy Chapel of Memories, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Dwayne Hill, a good friend from the Avenue B Church of Christ in Sweetwater. Burial will follow in the Palava Cemetery in Fisher County.
She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and valued friend to many and worked beside her husband on farms and in cotton fields for many years. In addition to being a housewife and working on the farm, she also provided food service in the Sweetwater school system for several years, sold Avon products for a while, and still took very good care of her family, always putting them first. She was a devout member of the Church of Christ for the last 70 years of her life, kind hearted and very caring and sensitive to the feelings of others. She will be missed very, very much and never forgotten.
Survivors include a brother, W. L. Duncan and his wife Lynn of Merkel, Texas; a sister-in-law, Ann Smith of Sweetwater; son and daughter-in-law, Wayland and Linda Smith of Kempner, Texas; grandchildren, Kimberly Blalock of Copperas Cove, Texas, Claudia and her husband Kevin Walker of College Station, Texas, Christopher Smith of Galveston, Texas, Sophia and her husband James Tczap of Hammond, Wisconsin, Shawn Smith and his wife Aimee of Richmond, Texas and Heather and her husband Mike Price, of Bryan, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jonah James Tczap, Kaitlynn Fay Blalock, Rebekah Alicyn Walker, Joshua Robert Walker, Lily Kaylin Smith, Alyssa Claire Smith, Aaron David Smith, Lindsey Elizabeth Price and Heath Michael Price; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Duncan and mother, Stella Blackwood Duncan; three sisters and five brothers; her husband, Cleave A. Smith; a daughter, Sherry Mahoney; and grandchildren, Lindsey Renae Bromley, Melissa Ann Mahoney and Matthew Chad Mahoney.
Pallbearers will be friends, Jerry Fry and John Schaumburg; grandsons, Christopher Smith and Shawn Smith; and grandsons-in-law, Mike Price and Kevin Walker.
