In sub-varsity basketball action here Friday, Sweet-water’s girls won both of their games against Mona-hans while the Sweetwater boys both fell short.The junior varsity girls are now a perfect 17-0 for the season, and 3-0 in district, as they won 54-34. Bianca Castillo and Cierra Knox each scored 10 points while Abby McPherson had nine, Shaneese Brown eight, Maddie Jones seven, Jaya Atkins and Jasmine Reddic three and Lexi Castillo and Nisha Williams two.The freshman girls are now 9-5 overall and 2-1 in district after winning 33-15. Morgan Rudel scored 15 points while Abby Garcia had five, Marissa Sanchez and Payton Moore four, Ashley Parker three and Mickenzie Brownlow two.Sweetwater’s freshman boys (6-1, 0-1) lost for the first time, 35-27, despite coming back from a 22-2 deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter.Denzell Moore had eight points, Isaiah Gonzales and Hardy Escobar six, Mich-ael Lawrence three and J’Corey Amos and Deshaun Williams two. The JV boys (0-9, 0-1) narrowly missed their first win, losing 31-29 to Monahans. Trey Taylor had 13 points, Mike McCoy six, D’Jaman West five, Marquees Jenkins three and Colton Belew two.
