Sweetwater won both of its games in sub-varsity football action on Thurs-day at Breckenridge. Both teams are back on the road this week at Wall.
Sweetwater JV 20, Breckenridge 7
Max Gomez threw touchdown passes of 24 yards to Sean Norman and 41 yards to Michael Green, and the JV (2-1) also got a 7-yard scoring run from Adrian Vizzerra in beating Breckenridge.
Other offensive standouts were running back Jacoby Hunt and receiver Mark Lawrence (6 catches, 84 yards), while Hunter Mobley (interception) and Vizzerra (three sacks) were among the defensive standouts.
âWe had a lot of guys step up and play big to-night,â said Sweetwater coach Clark Harrell. â(Breckenridge) was a good team and I thought we executed well and played solid in all aspects of the game. Every week we have gotten better and thatâs what itâs all about.â
Sweetwater freshmen 26, Breckenridge 12
The freshman team im-proved its record to 3-0 by beating Breckenridge. Lowell Williams had two touchdown runs and Dyl-an Ausborn one, and Jor-dan McGee threw a TD pass to Peyton Hill. Javier Olguin had a 2-point con-version for Sweetwater.
Other offensive stand-outs were Robert King, Junior Lawhon, Dylan Heiskell, Tristan Vasquez, Keevin Houston, Zannon Larralde, Justin Allen and Louis Vasquez.
Sweetwaterâs defense, which held Breckenridge scoreless until the third quarter, also had several standouts.
The long list of players who were singled out for praise by Sweetwater freshman coach Al Hunt were Williams, Caden Cornutt, Tyler Rea, Gar-rett Davison, John Clift, Frankie Ortega, Nick Castillo, Jonathan Castor, Alex Buchanan, Colter Reed and Gabriel Salazar.
